17 Jun Ulidia Trio Selected for Ulster Development Squad
Congratulations to Year 10 students Harry Blair, Ilyas Guler and Calum Wady who have been selected for the Ulster Rugby U16 Regional Development Squad. All the hardwork and dedication has paid off and we wish them every success as they begin their training.
“I play second row for Carrick Rugby Club and I have been playing rugby for two years. My Granda got me into sport which is why I always train hard and try my best. All that hardwork has paid off as I recently received an email saying that I have been picked for Ulster U16s regional development squad. My family are very proud of my achievement which has encouraged me to train even harder!“

“When I play rugby I feel like a different person, I can express my self more as I don’t feel judged. I’ve only been playing rugby for three years so to have been chosen for an Ulster Regional Development Squad is a big achievement. This has opened my eyes to what I am capable of and what I can achieve in the future. I remember going to all the Ulster matches and watching them run out at the Kingspan Stadium hearing the crowd chant for the players and being behind them through highs and lows. This has driven me to hopefully be picked to play for Ulster Rugby one day.“

“I started playing rugby in year 8 when my mates said I should join. I tried it and loved it! I worked and trained hard to the point were I could hardly walk afterwards. My uncle was captain for Carrick Rugby Club for years which also inspires me to work hard and try to be the best I can be. I am delighted to have been selected for Ulster u16s, I know it will push me to my limits and help me increase my fitness levels.”
