18 Jan Eco team participate in box making workshop with UWT
On Friday 12th January the eco team took part in a bird box making workshop ran by Ulster Wildlife Trust at Ulidia.
Shanna Rice from the Ulster Wildlife Trust visit ed bringing pre cut and measured resources ready for assembly into bird boxes. The team worked in small groups to build the bird boxes and to prepare them for our local wildlife. The boxes had a small hole at the front which was perfectly sized sir robin, or thrush birds to enter and make a home safely, while ensuring that larger predators will be kept out and away from young birds and eggs.
The bird boxes were then distributed into our local community to give our local wildlife a boost as spring approaches.
