06 Oct Bore Hole Well update
Ambalamanenjana Primary school is located in the Vohiboay neighbourhood of the Miarinarivo municipality, of Ambalavao district, Haute Matsiatra region, in the Highlands of Madagagascar. After hearing about the plight of children in Madagascar having little access to clean and safe water, which was hindering their educational opportunities, our year 10 pupils felt that they should do something to help children in Ambalamanenjana Primary school.
Through various fundraising endeavours in 2016-2017 year 10 hit the target of £1500 in May 2017 and the bore hole well project was able to go ahead.
Work on the well begun on 9th July and continued over the summer holidays. The villagers were able to learn valuable skills while the well was being constructed, and also benefitted from community education regarding hygiene.
Because of the efforts of our year 10 (now year 11) this community in Madagascar now are in the process of getting access to a clean and reliable water supply.
This borehole will directly benefit 172 pupils and 5 teachers. 110 villagers from 15 households surrounding the primary school giving clean disease free water safe for everyone to use.
Well done to all involved, you have made a real difference in our global community.
