Ulidia make positive start to the football season

Ulidia make positive start to the football season

This year we have seen a successful start to the football season at Ulidia.  Every Monday boys from Year 8-10 have been turning out in large numbers to train and develop their football and social skills, in the hope of achieving success for their school. Numbers have reached as high as 46 pupils which is encouraging.

 A reflection of this enthusiasm and extra time practising has been seen in a number of highlights so far this year;

Year 8

Ulidia 4 – 3 Abbey Community College

Ulidia 8 – 3 Parkhall

In addition there was a Year 8 development day held on Friday 7th October, in which our school won two games, lost one and drew one.   The Year 9’s also deserve credit of their own successes;

Ulidia 1 – 0 Larne High

Ulidia 4 – 0 Downshire

Ulidia 4 – 4 Parkhall

Finally, we hope to build on the early season success and look forward to the football fixtures that remain prior to December and heading into the rugby season in the New Year.

 I would particularly like to thank Adam Boyce (Sports Outreach Officer), Mr Fleming (Year 9 coach) and Joshua Devine (6th Form Pupil) for their help with the teams to date.  Furthermore I would like to thank the pupils for their enthusiasm and encourage any others thinking about getting involved to do so (the various clubs are highlighted on the school website).

Yours in Sport,

Mr G Spratt (PE Teacher and Year 8 coach)
