08 Jun Encouraging Healthy Minds!
On Wednesday 3rd and Thursday 4th June, PIPS Programmes visited Year 8 pupils at Ulidia to begin the first of a series of workshops and programmes to promote positive mental health. This is part of our greater suicide prevention programme, funded by The Big Lottery.
Year 8 pupils had the opportunity to learn about the importance of looking out for each other by working in a team as well as learning how to celebrate their skills and successes. The workshops were fun and very interactive and certainly brought out our competitive spirit!
The messages from the workshop were very clear:
- Be positive!
- Never give up!
- Tell someone if you are struggling and never worry about asking for help.
- Look out for each other
And most importantly, pupils recognised that it is ok to talk about mental health.
We look forward to welcoming PIPS back in August to begin work with our staff and 6th Form and then with more Year 8 and 10 students in the first term of the new school year.
