24 Mar Annual Geography Spellathon
During the winter term the Geography department has been holding its annual KS3 Spellathon event. Students in Years 8, 9 and 10 took part in the spellathon by learning key words and completing a spelling test on them. Students then raised money by being sponsored for each word that they got correct.
On Tuesday 24 March the Geography department presented a cheque for £700 to the Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice. The cheque was collected by Lynda Marshall MBE. During the presentation assembly, Year 8 students learnt about where the money will go and what a difference it will make to life-limited children in our community. Two students; Lewis Hamilton and Jonathan McMurray were presented with a certificate and gift to thank them for their outstanding efforts during the spellathon. Mrs Marshall thanked the students for their efforts and congratulated them on a wonderful achievement which will help others in the community.
